Paying Tribute to Board President, Matt Haley

August 1, 2014

We are shocked and very sad about the news of our dear friend, Matt. Matt was an outstanding human being. He was loved by everyone he came in contact with, and he loved everyone. He saw the good in everyone he met. He lived life always thinking about those in need and those who needed him. He was a caring and compassionate friend, and he touched many during his short time here with us. There are no words to express his giving spirit and humility. We grieve today for the loss of a man who gave so much of himself in Delaware and Sussex County, yet always found time to travel to other parts of the globe to help those less fortunate. He will be missed deeply by everyone, especially the children. He will be missed to an unfathomable degree, but his example and legacy will continue to inspire us beyond measure. His life and his great spirit has taught us that it is possible to rise above the most challenging circumstances, to discover and live out our gifts to the greatest degree, to live with deep commitment, joy, and fearlessness, and above all, to love each other with enormous compassion. Such a huge loss for the state, for the country, for the world. A huge loss, because his life was such a great gift. We love you, Matt.
