Hispanic Heritage Celebration 2014
The 3rd Annual Hispanic Heritage Celebration will consist of a day-long cultural celebration including food, local talent, a health fair sponsored by the Mexican Embassy, a community resource fair, a Zumba class and a panel discussion on Hispanic Issues, including: transportation, education, health & social services, housing, legal & social justice and economic/workforce development. This all will be followed by a concert event featuring the Hanover Dancers and Guitar Trio, Andaluzía. Tickets: Adult: $25 Senior: $20 Child: $15 (For Concert) FOLKLÓRICO SAN JOSE, HANOVER DANCERS The Folklórico San Jose (FSJ), a group of dancers affiliated with Saint Joseph’s Catholic Parish located in Hanover, Pennsylvania, is directed by Isabel Sosa and Luis Ramirez. Its primary mission is to preserve the richness of Mexican culture and its traditions. The group was founded in Hanover on the 12th of December, 2006 through the initiative of Cristina Huertas, Eddie Cervantes, Isabel Sosa and Luis Ramirez. Some of the members have been studying and working with previous students of Amalia Hernandez, the greatest showcase of Mexican folklore in the world. GUITAR TRIO, ANDALUZIA Andaluzia is a classical folk guitar group from Guayaquil, the largest city in Ecuador. Carlos Hernandez, Fernando Alvarado and Christian Robinson are performers and musical arrangers who, through this project, are aiming to reinvent contemporary and popular music.This musical trio was formed in October 2010 from a series of private presentations, which were received with great praise consolidating the group as one of a kind in the city of Guayaquil.One of the ensemble’s aspirations is to compose unpublished songs in an instrumental format for Spanish Guitars.Andaluzia has just presented its first album that includes classic styles of Latin American and European music.
